The play for children is perhaps one of the best loved plays we produce...
The childrens plays first began in 1973 with "
Jack and the Beanstalk" and has ever since proved to be very popular, adding to the success of the society as a whole.
The childrens play is performed at
Codsall Village Hall in late November and early December and is performed in-the-round.
Being an in-the-round performance, the childrens play is a great opportunity for audiences to really get involved: joining in with the sing-a-long, getting up for a dance and of course, warning our heros of danger with shouts of "He's behind you!" loud enough to be heard in Bilbrook! As for the actors and crew, well, the childrens play is a great opportunity for them to let their hair down and for the adult members to act like recycled teenagers on a field trip!
We have produced and performed most of the well known fairytales over the years; from
Jack and the Beanstalk and
Snow White to Dick Whittington and
Hansel and Gretel.
The childrens play is always eagerly awaited with a great deal of excitement and enthusiasm and makes the perfect herald for the start of the Christmas period.
So how do we create a magical fairytale world?
With a lot of time, imagination, hardwork and experience volunteered by our members. Oh yes, make no mistake about it: the success of the Codsall Dramatic Society play for children is no accident!
Just about everything from the script and sets, to the costumes and dance routines are all created, designed and produced by our members.
Our only hope is that our audiences enjoy watching it as much as we enjoy performing it - and from past experience, we know they do!
Why not come along to this years show and see for yourself.
